Latest News

We hope you find the news area of the AMA site useful. From time to time we will publish news articles regarding legislation changes. These articles are not intended to cover all changes in legislation, but could include changes that we believe are most likely to impact on our clients’ business.

A new look and a new website

As a commercial insurance and risk management specialist, the products and services we offer have moved with the times. After 20 years in business, we felt we needed a new brand identity to better reflect the way AMA has developed.

When we spoke to creative communications agency, Remedy Creative, we summed up our ethos with one simple statement – “We don’t sell policies, we buy them on behalf of our customers”. After further discussions, we all felt that our new identity needed to be modern and professional to better communicate our offering – and we are delighted with the outcome.

Remedy also created our new website which has been designed to be both easy to navigate and to provide a useful reference tool for our clients.  We hope you enjoy our website and we would welcome any feedback.

Expansion in 2010

This year has got off to a great start for AMA.  With plans to expand the business, we have already taken on two new members of staff, Anne-Marie Dickinson, to look after Marketing and New Business, and Simon Tindale, who now heads-up Sales and Telemarketing. We are currently also looking to expand our team by taking on more experienced Account Executives.

These changes will enable us to strengthen our offering and continue to provide the level of personal service that our clients have come to expect of AMA, whilst being pro-active in our new business programme.

Of course, a bigger team means more space is needed, so we are currently looking for new premises which we will keep you updated on – altogether an exciting time for AMA and our clients.

Minimum fines for Health and Safety Offences

Since the Corporate Manslaughter Act 2007, the media have featured many cases where prosecution has been brought against both a company and the individual deemed responsible in cases of negligence in the workplace.

In January of last year The Health and Safety Offences Act (2008) brought about an increase in fines for most health and safety offences, from £5k to £20k. Now there are recommendations from The Sentencing Guidelines Council for minimum fines of £100k for death resulting from negligence and £500k where death results from a charge of corporate manslaughter.

Directors and Officers Liability Cover (D and O) provides for legal defence costs and resulting damages, awards and settlements, with aggregate indemnity limits of £250k, £500k, £1m and £2m available. For a relatively low premium (starting from £350pa) Directors and Officers Liability Cover gives your company invaluable protection. If you haven’t yet got cover in place or are unsure as to whether you need it, please call us to check, with no obligation.
